Lesson Box example features

Read more about the features on some slide examples

What do the Avatar VT characters do when I choose to use them?
· They pose questions such as on this Child development slide example, give answers, explanations, extra detail, vocabulary, ideas for research and suggest activities.
· They give extra information and detail that there would not otherwise be enough space for on a normal PowerPoint presentation.
· They can act as virtual teachers for students during independent study, this is ideal if you have a student who has missed lessons for any reason.
· They are designed to engage the students adding humour when appropriate and generating discussion.
· They are often used to help make complicated ideas clearer.
· Their script can be changed by the teacher
· Their words appear in speech bubbles helping partial hearing students follow the lesson and helping improving reading skills.

 * Note the coloured unit title at the bottom of the slide, all presentations are broken into lesson size units with navigation buttons on the title page.

How do you use images and text?
· This Business Studies example shows how we choose bold graphics which on the actual presentations are very high quality images.
· They are designed to be memorable, to illustrate specific points and importantly to generate class discussion.
· Many images use multiple layers and animate to help the narrative of the text.
· The images chosen relate to the students and are chosen to have impact or add humour as appropriate .
· Text is designed to be accessible and appropriate to the students.
· The bullet points lead the students through the topic but also give opportunities for the teacher to develop the idea.
· All text is fully and easily customisable.

* Note the coloured text box these are often used to introduce an extension idea or discussion point for the teacher to develop.

How do we use graphs and diagrams?
· When appropriate we use animated graphs and diagrams as on this food technology example.
· The graphs shown here appear one at a time and an element at a time allowing the teacher to pause and to explain the content.
· Questions are often set within the text to encourage the students to see the significance of the graph or diagram.
· The graphs can be easily up dated or the data changed to illustrate specific classwork.

* Note the keyword here in red, clicking on this on the actual presentation will reveal a definition.

How do the Lesson Box features help the teacher?
· The buttons along the bottom of this Citizenship slide illustrate some of the extra features with Lesson Box, designed to provide the materials needed for a complete structured lesson using the presentations as a focus
· A starter task designed to settle the students and introduce the topic. Recap tasks or notes appear at the end of each unit.
· The notes button will bring up a special box that can be typed in by the teacher to add their own activity or notes without having to close down the presentation. This can be positioned anywhere on the screen.
There is an Activity button to add a class activity.
· Choose a discussion point or group task.
· The extra button will give extra information but also will often set an individual or class activity.
· All elements can be customised on a teacher resource slide before the lesson or over typed live in the lesson.
. Store your lesson plans in the presentation
